Nechama Levy runs the Brooklyn Women's Chavura, a Women's Tefilah Group that meets monthly in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Following a strict Skverer Chassidish upbringing, Nechama took a 14 year hiatus from Jewish observance, during which period she hitchhiked across the United States, got lost in the jungle in India, played drums in a band, and opened a bicycle store. In 2014 she had the opportunity to learn to leyn from cantor Mike Weis, leading to her baal teshuva experience. She now lives in Crown Heights with her husband Egon, baby Heshy, dog Ruby and cat Oswald.
