With regards to adjudication, rabbinic law offers multiple models for achieving fairness. In this session, we will examine these models in the context of trying to achieve gender equity, exposing the advantages and the dilemmas of each. We will also offer a third strategy from beyond the world of adjudication, which expands the discussion considerably.

Dr. Elana Stein Hain is the Director of Leadership Education at the Shalom Hartman Institute, where she is a lead faculty member. Prior to serving at Hartman, Elana was the Community Scholar at Lincoln Square Synagogue and the Resident Scholar at the Jewish Center, both in Manhattan.
