In recent years, mikvaot have become complicated sites of communal anxiety and resistance to abuses of rabbinic power. This session will provide an opportunity for individuals to ask questions, share experiences, and reinvision the way mikvaot function in communal settings.

Rabbi Mia Smiring

Rabbi Mia Simring is New York City-based Conservative rabbi with ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary.  She has focused on pastoral care and counseling and practiced chaplaincy at NYU Langone and Mount Sinai Hospitals.  She is excited about the intersection between pastoral care, active listening, and ritual experiences. Mia is an ImmerseNYC Rabbinic Fellow.
